Ghastly Naxal attack on security forces (don't lower guard)

Sir,The words of former Prime Minister still rings true that Naxalism posses the single biggest internal security challenge to nation, Yesterday's dastardly and cowardly attack in Chhattisgarh is the biggest attack carried out by Maoists on the security forces in the state in the last two years, in which Ten Jawans and driver of District reserve Guard(DRG) were martyred ,when Naxals detonated a IED by targeting the vehicle, carrying the District reserve Guard (DRG) who was returning from a anti naxal security operation.

Naxal also known as Maoists insurgents have deep presence in this part central and eastern part of India where primitive infrastructure and inhospitable terrain render security operations challenging and these areas have been known as their stronghold, hundreds of security personnels have been martyred in the last six decades ,this area is among the last of stronghold of these maoists insurgents

The incident shows these Maoists are still capable of inflicting heavy casualties on security forces ,hence there is no room for complacency, which underscores the urgent necessity of revisiting the country's National security action plan against maoists, government of India and chhattisgarh government should unitedly take firm action against the perpetrator of such gasty crime, increasing local intelligence is a way forward .

Government must try to continue to win the confidence of tribal people and improve socio economic factors like poverty and widespread unemployment which is the surest way of defeating Maoist exreminsts.

Sir,The dastardly and cowardly attack yesterday by suspected Maoists elements in Sukma on CRPF personels and killing 12 troopers in insurgency-hit Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, must be condemned in the all strongest possible terms.

This deadly terrorist attacks illustrate the sophisticated capacity of maoists to wreak havoc,This Terror attack is a reminder that India needs a composite plan against maoists and their sympathizers as they were keeping quiet for some time,

The Government should not lower its guard in the fight against extremists. first,it should try to improve socio economic situation in the naxal affected areas, second it should improve local intelligence, operational efficiency of security personnels and cut off Maoists funds as they survive on a steady flow of funds to maintain their cadre and buy arms.

Maoists have struck again in Chhattisgarh (Dantewada again, this time 35 dead). Nothing can be more shocking than this. It’s time to act and end the bloody trail. Considering the enormity of the two major attacks in Dantewada, it’s just about time for the government, mainstream parties and civil society to take stock and redefine their roles.

It’s clear that the Maoists have come to be a strong force capable of threatening the country’s security. Even civilians are not spared. If not curbed soon enough, the Red rebels will pose the gravest challenge to the country’s security and sovereignty.

Sir - Twelve Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed in an attack by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district ("Maoists kill 12 CRPF jawans", March 12). The incident shows that Maoists are still capable of inflicting heavy casualties on security forces. The country requires a comprehensive plan to counter the Maoists and their sympathizers.

The government should try to improve the socio-economic situation of the residents in the affected regions. Local intelligence and the efficiency of security personnel are the areas that need to be worked on to counter the Maoists.

Maoist menace
Arab News- 29 May 2013-L.E.

Sir, the dastardly and cowardly attack this Saturday on a Congress convoy by Maoists in Chhattisgarh, killing around 30 people and injuring scores, must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. This attack exposes the glaring weaknesses onon part of the police and intelligence machinery. It should serve as a wake-up call for the security establishment in Delhi that of late had started patting its back that Maoists violence was on the decline.

Government of India should take firm action against perpetrators of such ghastly crimes. This attack only means the government’s writ does not run in Maoist-infested areas, especially in the state of Chhattisgarh. This is a matter of serious concern and should be addressed if the menace is to be contained. It may also be noted that the state police alone cannot curb this menace as these Maoist militants are well trained and have drawn considerable number of comrades, equipped with modern deadly weapons, to their ranks.

This matter should be appropriately addressed considering the gravity of situation in total coordination of elite central forces with the state police. The Maoist problem should be dealt as a national internal security problem of highest order and politicians across the party lines should support the government’s action to end this menace that is affecting 200 districts of the country.

Menace of Maoists needs counter-attack
DNA India-5 May 2012-L.E.

People of the country were relieved to learn the news ac that Alex Paul Menon, collector of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh, was finally released by Maoists. Unfortunately, of late, there has been an increase in the number of cases wherein Maoists resort I to kidnapping and use the hostage(s) to bargain with the government on their demands, which often revolve around releasing their arrested comrades. As the government succumbs to the Maoists' pressure tactics, all its previous efforts that were made towards controlling their menace end up getting wasted. To tackle this issue, the government would do well to equip each Maoist in fasted state with an elite force, on the lines of Andhra Pradesh Greyhounds. This force came into existence when the Maoists' activities peaked in the southern states.

Every time the Maoists dare to surface, the Greyhounds us d to hunt them clown. it w s because of the success t is force that Maoists shifted their base from Andhra Pradesh to nearby states like Chitchatting, Jharkhand and Odessa. If each of these states adopt offensive strategy like Andhra Pradesh did, it can minimize the Maoists activities to a great extent.

Chhattisgarh outrage an attack on democracy
The Statesman--29th May 2013--LE

SIR, ~ The latest Maoist outrage in Chhattisgarh was not an attack on the Congress or the BJP; it was an attack on democracy. Mahendra Karma, the founder of Salwa Judum who was killed by the extremists, was fondly referred to as “Bastar Tiger”. He was a combative leader, whose support base was not limited to his Congress party; his rivals in politics also respected him as a man of principle, who had entered politics to serve the people. Even the ruling BJP chief minister, Raman Singh, maintained cordial relations with him.

Karma had served as minister in undivided Madhya Pradesh. After Chhattisgarh was carved out in 2000, he became the industry and commerce minister. In 2003, when the BJP came to power, he took over as leader of the Opposition.

The Maoists of Bastar had been trying to target him for quite some time. Karma and the state government had lost the ideological battle when the Salwa Judum was disbanded in 2011 on the orders of the Supreme Court of India. In the Gondi language of the tribals, Salwa Judum means “Peace March” or “Purification Hunt”. Karma enjoyed a measure of support, cutting across party lines.

Brutal Maoists/Baxal attack

Sir,Yesterday's deadly attack on convoy of CRPF’s personnel in Chhattisgarh carried out by maoists highlights that maoists remains the biggest internal security challenge This attack carried by these large army of Maoists goons is the deadliest attack in recent times, at the densely forested track of Sukna in Chhattisgarh state, killing 14 brave jawans who were just performing their duty.

Attack of this deadliest proportionate by a mob of large army of Maoists couldn’t have taken place without meticulous planning . This attack should expose the glaring weaknesses in the police and intelligence machinery. This attack should serve a wake up call for the security establishment in Delhi .

This daring attack on security personnel clearly highlights that the government's writ does not run in Maoists -infested areas. This is a matter of serious concern and should be addressed with highest priority if the naxals menace is to be contained.

I t may also should be noted that a combined Lethal force be formed on par which containined Andhra naxals menace as these Maoists goons are well trained and have drawn considerable numbers, equipped with modern deadly weapons to their ranks and have been collecting large extortion money from businessman ,

The Maoist menace is a national threat. All political, social and cultural organizations must rise above their differences and must meet this challenge collectively and decisively, this matter should be appropriately addressed looking into gravity of situation in total coordination with elite central armed forces in coordination with state police

The killings at Dantewada on Monday are not just a cause for alarm but also a wake-up call (centre needs to Refashion Strategy, 19 May).

The Maoists survive on a steady flow of funds to maintain their cadres and buy arms. Cut their funding- be it extortion or contributions and you cut them off.

That’s the only way to cut the Naxals down to size.
