Who will save air India
Deccan chronicle- 12 September 2012-L.E

The comptroller and Auditor general (CAG) report rightly sums up how Air India once a pride a pride of nation ,was dismantled clinically to make room for private players. The report states that Air India's acquisition plan of 111 planes was a risky acquisition and sure recipe for disaster as it would lead to massive debt liability of Rs 38,423 Crores.which the ailing airline could ill afford.

Th CAG also enlist an array of other charges against the Air India management.

The Center must either make a last -ditch efforts to save the airlines or privatize it so that further loss to exchequer can be avoided.

Revamp Air India
Arab News-3rd may 2011--LE.

The strike by Air India pilots has caused much inconvenience to the thousands of passengers who now find themselves stranded at several airports. Private airlines, taking advantage of the situation, have increased the prices of tickets sharply.

Pilots are among the highly paid professionals in India. It is ironic they are striking for an increase in wages. Still, AirIndia management and pilots should come to an understanding and break the deadlock in the national interest.

There was a time when Air India was known as the best managed public sector undertaking in India. It had a team of officers known for professionalism and dedication. Now the national carrier is on the verge of collapse. Still, the situation can be saved if Air India is allowed to run independently and professionally as a commercial outfit free from government control.

More Than 20 years ago,Air India was a pride of nation and was managed by group of professionals who ran the airline with dedication and made India proud. The latest CAG report reflects the sad state of the affairs of Air India and states that its acquisition plan of 111 planes is a risky acquisition and recipe of disaster,AI acquisition plan will contribute massive debt of Rs 38,423 Crores.and it can ill afford and the merger of AI and IA was ill timed and improper.

PSU"s can work efficiently provided dedicated persons run the show, Prime Minister should choose professionals to run the airlines an autonomous company,Air India has the resources and capability to be one of the finest airline in the world.
