Rash driving is a regular nuisance and is responsible for fatal accidents. The latest has been the case of former cricketer Azharuddin's son. There is an urgent need for Its the traffic police to get their act together and make sure road safety norms are followed.

Penalize the offenders severely by imposing a very steep fine on drag-racing, seize vehicles and prosecute offenders through a fast-track court. Parents, too, have a role to play as they get these youngsters racing bikes that make a mockery of speed limits.

FILM SHOOT TRAGEDY
DECCAN CHRONICLE 9 NOVEMBER 2016

The gruesome death of two Kannada actors while performing the stunt scene of jumping from a helicopter into TG Halli reservoir is saddening and scary (Sandalwood: High on stunts, low on safety - DC, Nov.8). This tragic incident brings the focus on lack of safety standards in the Kannada film industry. In bigger film industries like Hollywood and Bollywood, where more dangerous stunts are performed, incidents like this are rare as adequate safty procedures are in place. The tragedy could have been avoided had the film producers taken adequate precautions. It's high time the government formulated safty guidelines for the film industry and conducted inspections before granting permission for such risky performances.

Fatal jump
The Telegraph,16th Nov 2016,L.E.

Sir - The reports that two Kannada actors, Anil Kumar and Raghav Uday, died while performing stunts for a movie is frightening. This incident has brought into focus the mediocre standards of safety in the shooting of Kannada films. One rarely hears of such incidents occurring in Hollywood or in the Hindi film industry, where dangerous stunts in movies are common. The deaths of the Kannada actors could have been avoided if the producers had taken adequate safety measures.

It is imperative for the government to lay down guidelines for the protection of stuntmen and actors during the making of a film. These should include a compulsory inspection of safety measures before permission to shoot in dangerous spots, such as the areas around water bodies and hills, is granted. Well-equipped ambulances should always be stationed close by, in case of emergencies. Anybody who violates these guidelines should be punished. This is the only way in which such deaths can be avoided.

Be cautious for adventure sports
DNA India 9 April 2012-L.E.

It is sad how a young man lost his life while performing a stunt during the inauguration of a mall in Greater Noida. This incident brings to fore the need to follow safety rules strictly.

Adventure sports are entirely safe if all the precautions are taken. However, if caution is thrown to the wind, disasters are bound to happen. In Noida's case, bungee jumping trainer Shailender Kumar, 25 died when he fell as the rope supporting him snapped. As per international norms, safety net and mattress on ground should have been there during the adventure sport, but the rule was not followed even though a Union minister, Subodh Kant Sahay, was attending the function.

Authorities should ensure that all safety measures are in place before they decide to go ahead with such stunts, as it is somebody's life that is in question. Any violation by the organizers should be dealt with strictly.

Deccan Chronicle 13 April 2009-L.E.

It was quite Painful to read about ghastly death of a young marine engineer a Chennai who was attempting reverse bungee jump (Youth dies bungee jumping, April 12). If safety norms are rigidly followed, then bungee jumping is quite safe a sport with the accident rate hardly one in a million, In Bangalore, the organizers completely failed to take any safety measures. Since adventure sports and tourism is growing industry, the state govt should bring in fresh laws and a mechanism to monitor the standards of such events.

Stringent Safety Norms be followed during Bungee Jumping

Sir,Gruesome Death of young bungee jumping trainer Shailender Kumar(25) while performing a stunt within hours of opening of the Greater Noida's Swanky Adventure Mall by Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay is most saddening, he was a well trained person hence he died due to some problems with safety infrastructure which were not in place.

This brings to the focus the safety standard preveling during performing such adventuring sports/stunt,Shailender scumbed to injury while performing stunt when rope supporting him snapped near 7th floor as he was rapapling down the outer glass of the mall.

Infact Bungee jumping is quite an safe sports provide it is performed by a well trained person and all safety parameters are in place ,Bungee Jumping is the kind of adventures sports that involves jumping from tall high rise structures while connected to large elastic cord to ankles and is a modern type of thrilling expierences , As per international operating procedures there should be adequate safety measures in place while performing such type of these Adventure sports like Safety nets, mattress on gorund , well equipped ambulances with well traine paramedicals etc, absence of well equipped first aid at such places hinders medical during first golden hour .

Also i want to remind two such similar incident happened one few weeks ago in Bangalore when fire force and were performing fire safety drill at a factory when a young girl who voluntarily became a volunteer and died when rope broke ,also similar accident happended in april 2009 when a young tecie died while performing similar Bungee stunt Hence for such adventuring sports events, police authorities should set safety norms /guidelines and compulsory make inspection before granting permission to see all safety measure are in place.Any violation by organisors should be sternly dealt with.
