Intensify Patrolling (Bangalore roads)
Deccan Chronicle,4th Dec,2019,L.E.

Though state government has launched special apps and other safety measures for women's security, its immediate focus should be on increasing the strength of Police force.

It should intensity police patrolling, specially at night in places that are considered unsafe for women. the presence of mere men in Khaki on Bngaore roads will deter anti-social elements from committing any crime.

These measures will surely go long way in preventing ghastly incidents such as which occured in Hyderabad a few days ago.

Sir,The Incidents of molesting marks a horryfying start to the new year in the city, The city police were far outnumbered by drunk hooligans and could only intervene intermittently.Though Bengaluru's population has grown considerable in the recent past ,the manpower of the police force continues to be inadequate.

The immediate focus of Karnataka Governmnet ,therefore should be to increase the strenghth of force. Better policing will deter the criminals and boost the city's global image.

containing crime in Bangalore has become virtually impossible for the police force because of a massive increase in the geographical boundaries of the city. The need of the hour is to strengthen police stations and select the right constabulary because constables are the most visible face of the force. The visibility of police on roads also has to go up, especially at night. Mobile patrolling in Bangalore is inadequate as compared to cities like Delhi and Mumbai.

DNA India 11 February 2012-L.E.

The police have done a good job by solving the murder case of the unfortunate jeweler. The case should be tried in a fast-track court and exemplary punishment should be meted out to the guilty taxi drivers.

The incident has highlighted how passengers going towards the Bangalore International Airport are vulnerable to such incidents. After the incident, people well hesitate in availing the services of private taxi service. The police should issue strict instructions to the taxi operators on ensuring that drivers are hired only after their antecedents are verified. While the police have done a good job in the recent months by solving cases a large number of cases of murder and robbery, patrolling has suffered in the city.

Government should form special squads of Karnataka State Reserve Police so that civil police are free to concentrate on their core job of ensuring people's safety.

In light of the jeweler's murder, the police should consider patrolling on the BIA Road. Currently, only traffic police are deployed on the road to catch speeding vehicles. Improved patrolling would deter the culprits.

Sir, This refers to“Two arrested for raping city BPO employee.”The gruesome rape of a 23-year-old has shook the confidence of the nation once again. To reduce such crimes in future, police patrolling should be increased on the streets of Bengaluru. It is shocking that the girl was driven around along time with no policeman in sight for help.

For a city that is growing by leaps and bounds, it is crucial to expand security apparatus and employ more manpower and vehicles for patrolling.

The government should also set up a fast-track courts for speedy trial and punishment.

The recent assault on a woman on Berlie Street at night once again highlights the issue of safety in Bangalore. Though police in Bangalore have shown a good progress in containing Containing terror activities, there has been an increase in the number of petty crimes and other law and order problems. Security planners all over the world are of the view that the more intensive police patrolling is, the lower is the crime rate. New York City stands testimony to this, which has a low crime rate, credited to heavy police presence on roads.

As Bangalore is witnessing an exponential growth, its security apparatus, too, should keep pace with it by improving police on the streets to instill confidence in the common man. Public, too have a role to play, as police cannot be posted everywhere. the police about it and get help.

Your article Police officials slam rule limiting tenure in stations' in the Saturday edition touches upon an important issue. Former DG&IGP Ajai Kumar Singh had done a commendable job by ensuring that each police official got to serve at least two years at a police station. The aim was to ensure that once an official became familiar with the area he was in charge of, he could use the knowledge to discharge his duty efficiently. Recent amendments brought In by the state government have reduced the period of minimum service to one year.

This Is a deplorable move as it will reduce efficiency of the officers. The Police Establishment Board's ruses were noteworthy and should have been continued without any tinkering that affects the performance of the men in uniform.

In the news story 'Policing will soon die, cops fear', you of have aptly summed up an important issue.. The article is timely and appropriate. Karnataka police is much better than its counterparts in other states and has a better human-rights record. I fully agree with DNA that if policemen will be restrained from taking tough action en against law breakers, then people will lose faith in the ff- system. We should remember that at night, we are able to sleep peacefully because policemen are awake. Policemen perform a tough job with limited resources and are always Overstretched, sometimes working 24 hours, attending VVIP duties political rallies etc.

Lawyers' fraternity is held in high esteem in our country. I call upon senior advocates to advise their juniors to desist holding protests. We all look upon lawyers as saviors of democracy.

The Telegraph-- September 2 , 2013--L.E.

Sir — The arrest of Yasin Bhatkal — whose real name is Mohammed Ahmed Siddibapa — is a giant stride in the country’s attempt to rein in terrorist activities. The dedicated officers of India’s security agencies who apprehended Bhatkal must be applauded. Bhatkal is one of the founding members of the Indian Mujahideen and has been behind some major terror strikes in India in the recent past. The key operator of the Lashkar-e-Toiba, Abdul Karim Tunda, and Bhatkal were caught at the Nepal border within 15 days of each other.

The operation to nab Bhatkal was carried out with precision. His arrest is another feather in the cap of the Indian intelligence agencies. Bhatkal had been carrying out terrorist activities in India for a long time — in places such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Surat and Ahmedabad — and had always managed to give the law the slip. He is said to be a highly-trained bomb-maker and a master of disguises. He featured high on the most wanted list of the National Investigation Agency.

In order to clamp down further on terror activities in the country, law enforcement agencies need to streamline the sharing of intelligence and information and improve coordination among themselves. Terrorism can only be defeated if it is dealt with aggressively from as many directions as possible.
