There has been awesome increase in shoot outs in America,In recent increase if indiscriminate firing,a gunman opened firing at news paper office at Annapolis(Maryland)killing five members of staff and injuring several others, such incidences are happening because fire arms are easily available in United states ,Tougher laws to control this gun culture are imperative.

Many analysts and politicians have defended the people's right to passes guns ,but they should realize thta situation has changed dramatically ever since laws on easy availability of gun for self defense was introduces,

Ready made gun culture has been detrimental to American society. Those politicians who are against tougher laws to check easy acess to fire arms are not doing any service to their people.

Gun control is must
Arab News - 16 June 2016-L.E.

This is with reference to the article “Isn’t it time to talk about gun control?” by Gwynne Dyer (June 14). The attack on a nightclub in Orlando, United States has left us dumbstruck. It was not the first time that an insane individual went on a shooting rampage in the United States but the Orlando incident has been described as the worst-ever mass shooting. In addition to that it also appears to be a hate crime targeting homosexuals.

The writer has raised some valid questions over the easy availability of guns in the US. There is a need for the introduction of tougher laws to control this gun culture. Many analysts and politicians defend people’s right to possess guns but they should realize that the situation has completely changed around the world. Various hate groups and extremist outfits are on the prowl. In the post-9/11 days, the US in a bid to ensure safety of its citizens introduced tougher security laws because such extraordinary situations cannot be dealt with ordinary measures.

The Orlando massacre has reignited this over decade-old debate in the US. We cannot deny the fact that when it comes to personal freedom and human rights, the US enjoys an enviable status around the world. However, this easy gun culture is proving to be very detrimental to the American society. Those politicians who are against tougher laws to check easy access to firearms are not doing any service to their people.

Dear Sir,The recent massacre at a nightclub in Orlando in the US has horrified the world. A gunman killed 49 people and injured 53 others inside a nightclub on June 12. This is not the first time the US is witnessing such a mass shooting.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for gun control in the US. There are more than 55,000 licensed gun dealers in the US, according to a report. That includes everything from small privately-owned gun shops and sporting goods stores to big chain stores that sell guns. Additionally, there are more than 8,000 pawn shops that are licensed to sell guns.

It is high time the US reviewed its gun licensing policy.

Norwegian carnage
Khaleej Times--29 July 2011-L.E

The Norwegian capital Oslo is known the world over as a symbol of international peace efforts where the Nobel Peace committee sits and decide the Nobel Prize of the Year.

At such a place such a gruesome carnage/tragedy was least expected. We could not imagine that Norway would witness such an attack in our wildest dreams. Not only Norwegians but also people all over the world are in a state of shock. They are seriously worried over this devastating new face of crime.

A lowering of guard has proven costly so it is time these countries tightened their security apparatus 24x7.
